Excerpts from the journal-topics.com:
Rolling Meadows firefighters on Tuesday spent their last day at Fire Station 15 on Meadow Drive before moving into their new station at 3201 Algonquin Rd. Wednesday (Dec. 18).
“This station was built in the early to mid ‘50s and has served the community since then, about 65 years,” said a Facebook post from the Rolling Meadows Fire Dept. “Tens of thousands of emergency calls have had equipment respond from this firehouse. We wish her well, but can’t be certain of her future.”
The city council approved plans to build two new fire stations for $13 million last September after years of discussion. In addition to the $5.8 million Fire Station 15, Fire Station 16 is expected to be relocated from Plum Grove Road to a new building on Hicks Road.
According to Fire Chief Terry Valentino, moving to the new locations will allow firefighters to reach residents anywhere in the city within four to six minutes. He said service was not expected to be interrupted due to the move, and that Palatine and Schaumburg fire departments agreed to cover any calls during the switch.

Great news for them! Desperately needed!!! So will the current ROLM Engine 15 become E16R? And will the current reserve engine be disposed of then?

Michael M,
Station 15 will be: Battalion 15, Truck 15, Ambulance 15 with Reserve Battalion 15 and Reserve Ambulance 15.
Station 16 will be: Engine 16, Ambulance 16, Squad 15, Hazmat 15, MABAS UTV1, and Reserve Engine 16.
Squad 15 and Hazmat 15 will have their numbers changed to 16 by Mid March.

How many reserve engines do they have/need?
I did look at the floor plans for Station 15 online and it looked like there would be 5 rigs stored there including a reserve. Though I could be wrong.
Station 15 looked like there will be
Truck 15
Ambulance 15
Hazmat 15
Squad 15
And a reserve rig.
My guess is station 16 will be
Engine 16
Ambulance 16
BC 16
And maybe one or two reserve rigs.

I was just looking at the floor plans, for both stations, online. I am guessing that it’s probably just an oversight, but I didn’t see a spot, in either station’s apparatus bay, for a reserve ambulance. All the reserve engines have space, but not the reserve ambulance.

Station 16 is also nearly finished. Another month or two and it should be pretty much done.
