Harry you are correct about KME and New York City however I have a surprise for you. Their latest order which was going to KME was canceled and it is going to Seagrave. KME wasn’t able to meet New York’s delivery schedule. In order to meet the schedule they would have had to push off and delay orders from other customers, so KME is honoring their other customers. Overall it seems they were pretty happy with the KMEs.
It was a shock a few years ago when FDNY ordered from KME considering that KME has a poor reputation. Several fire departments tried them without much luck. However Los Angeles County is still purchasing apparatus from them. Not so with Los Angeles City who has gone back to Pierce pumpers after trying KME for a few years.
San Diego tried some KMEs on a lease program several years ago. They returned those rigs pretty quickly replacing them with Pierce units.

the only dept I know that has very good luck with the kme is new York city but they spec. them out as heavy duty as possible that is not saying they don’t have problems because they do but it is far less that other kme depts.

What a beauty! I like the Alcoa’s! Nice touch! I think this is their 3rd Marauder II chassis and the Aerialscope will be #4. Waukegan is a loyal and faithful customer of Seagrave after the KME pumper turned out to be total crap as well as the Pierce ladder.
