Harry, speaking of some of the North Shore’s fire department ambulances, over the last several months Evanston replaced their larger International ambulances with smaller rigs. First Ambulance 21 and now 22. I don’t know if it was done to save money or if the new ambulances may be easier to maneuver because they are smaller. I have hunch it was done to save money as a little over a year ago their former city manager Walter Bobkiewicz wanted to close station 24 and sell it.

martin I will find out from Skokie why they said the fl was better I know it was def related I believe either way Skokie and Morton grove have far less issues with fl than ihc

Harry, on the International MV, the def tank is located in front of the tank vs behind it on the freightliner. It really doesn’t make a difference between the two brands. It’s easy to access.

They got two this year. A few years back they also got two. Their whole frontline might be all red now.

Someone on the last post about NFD said they get a new one every year, so that the oldest Ambulance (in theory) would only be 10 years old.

Nice, how often are they replacing Ambulances? It seems like they get a new one every 2 years.
