For the 1997 100′ ladder, still owned by the E-One dealer in eastern Canada and in service (on loan) in one of the biggest city Of the state as front line unit

Mike what you can’t seem to grasp is why spend at least a million dollars on a rig that really does nothing but chase an ambulance. Also the trucks are manned with 2 people so it’s not even a fully staffed truck. No body is mooching off the neighbors unless the other truck is down or not available.. Kinda sorta like towns with one truck already do…. You won’t ever see City FF/PM on the ambulance there.. But since Tommy boy is a Yes man he folded and let the city tell him to let Metro have a ALS chase car. They could have had ALS Rigs..

Does anyone know what happened to the 1997 E-One 100ft that served as Truck 2 before the current Tower 2 went into service? Last I heard, it was sold to an E-One dealership in Canada. Just wondering if it’s still in service somewhere else.

So you’re not MMQB but you want them to mooch off the neighbors. If the city can afford to staff 2 trucks and 2 engines then who cares. The firemen have been trying to get the ambulance along with running ALS companies and the city says no because they don’t want to lose campaign contributions from Davey hill and superior ambulance. Maybe instead of complaining about how they staff their truck maybe help them take over the ambulance.

Not armchair quarterbacking, educated knowledge. Elmhurst could survive well with one truck. They have the typical upper middle class income amount of fire duty.. aka Very little… The truck they have now got most it’s miles chasing the ambulance. Surrounding towns have trucks on each side.. Bensenville, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, Hillside.

Don’t know their answer but their city benefits from 2 manned trucks. It keeps them from mooching off the neighbors. I don’t remember if they’re running with 2 or 3 on the trucks though. So big tom loves the pierce. Give him some time. He’ll screw up elmhurst like he did lisle.

They have had 2 manned truck companies for years!! And
Now someone questions decides to question it??? Can’t wait for the arm chair quarterbacking answers..

Bigger question is why Elmhurst needs two manned truck companies..

I’d imagine that they would keep Tower 2, which is the 2016 E-One that’s run out of Station 2. My understanding is that this new Pierce is replacing Tower 1, which is the 2001 E-One out of Station 1. Someone correct me if I’m wrong though. Also, interesting that they are going to a steel ladder with the Ascendant. I know Elmhurst has been fans of the E-One aluminum ladders for a long time.

The may never admit it but I’ll bet they will miss having a tower ladder around. having a platform is very handy for a lot of operations. I am curious as to how the Accendent will hold up on a single axle after 18 years and 100,000 miles. Its too early to tell now, so its a wait and see game now. Especially since its a quint with all the attendant weigh of water pump, piping, etc.

Sounds like the current tower ladder is nearing the ends of it’s life cycle. Heck it has over 100,000 miles on it. It is oos looks like half the time. However I wonder if they will be able to fit all the current equipment on this truck. It seems like the current tower ladder and the 2016 E-One at T2 have more storage space than this truck. If it works for them, that’s all that matters.

Global seems to be pretty generous with the trade in.

from what I was told the current fire chief is a huge pierce fan and was going to get rid of t2 when it was near brand new
