Harry, the only Ford Transits that have been produced with an ambulance box that I have found have been demos made by Crest line, a Canadian ambulance manufacturer. Those demos were produced a few years ago with a 156″ box, shorter than Lincolnwood’s by at least 18″ and narrower. Nothing new other than has been purchased. A brief browse of the current ambulance manufacturers other than Crestline do not offer the Transit for ambulances in anything other than a Type II (vanbulance).

The Transit cutaway chassis does not meet the weight requirement for a box-on-chassis, which is one reason we haven’t seen it yet.

Should have guessed that.
Still, you’d think that wouldn’t be so hard nowadays.

Crabby, it’s not that the 6.7 wont fit, it’s all the emission BS that goes with it that doesn’t fit.

The E SERIES is going to be built for at least 5 or more years. In fact beginning next year or in ‘21, it will have the new 7.3L v8 gasoline engine as the sole power plant replacing the old proven 6.8L v10.
No diesel because for whatever reason, they can’t fit the 6.7L v8 POWERSTROKE in the E SERIES.
They had a longer v10in that thing for many years yet a v8 diesel won’t fit.
Go figure?

I meant say wonder. It would most likely take away a part of the sales from the F series. The transit is a great chassis. Surprised that they wont kill off the E series cutaway.

I was just thinking if ford discontinued this chassis and replaced it with the transit plus offered it in diesel, winder how the sales would look.
