I was the last mechanic to work on it and I can tell you the wear pads on the base end of each section where worn out. Those wear pads are braze on. Only Seagrave can make this repair.

If Alsip can get another 10 years out of this truck, I’d say this is money well spent. I am curious to know if the ladder was involved in some sort of collision. This is the Force ladder which is a little different than the Patriot ladder. Chicago has some patriot ladders still in use that are almost 25 years old. Regardless, this is a solid stainless steel cab and body truck. Lots of life left on her!

That’s just for replacing the ladder. AND, I would hope, going over the chassis to make sure there are no major issues with it. Otherwise it’s 158k down the drain.

Ok, are they replacing the main or trading in the current truck for a new one? The dollar amount doesn’t add up?
