It sounds like they are going to run this truck as a EMS chase vehicle and a Special Operations unit.

From what I’ve heard yes station 11 will go back to running an engine as a suppression unit. Station 12 at minimums will staff the tower with 3 and ambo with 2. When manning is available, rescue 12 is in service with two. Once Squad 11 is no longer frontline at Station 11 it will go to Station 12 and only be manned by callback personnel.

Rj, you are saying that Engine 11 will go back to being straight engine company and the pumper/squad was only a temporary assignment. It will become Squad 12 while the Freightliner will be the EMS first responder out of Station 12?
When Station 12 only has three, will they respond on the tower ladder, but if they have four will two be assigned to the EMS rescue and only two on the tower ladder? Or do they need to have five to put the EMS rescue in service to keep the tower ladder with three? So if they only have three on duty, will the tower ladder go on EMS runs, or will they become a jump company?
Thanks

So if the plan is to ultimately run S11 at station 12 with callback personnel what will be the suppression company out of Station 11?

Can’t wait to see that added to the site.

Currently, S11 is a pumper squad/rescue engine, call it what you will, and it runs as the supression unit out of sta 11. R12 is staffed with 2 when in service and chases ambo calls etc out of Sta 12. S11 and R12 operate independently on normal days/calls unless due on a box alarm then they’ll respond as 2 piece squad. I believe in the future S11 is to be housed at Sta 12 and manned by callback personnel and R12 will still be staffed with 2 most days but they’ll still respond as a 2 piece company on box alarms or TRT calls in town. S11 was put in frontline service for some or all of its warranty period to ensure any covered problems were identified and fixed.

Is this unit intended to replace the Dive Rescue at Station 10 or is it to replace Squad 12 which is now Squad 11?
I know that Squad 12 was replaced with a pumper/squad. Instead of replacing Squad 12’s apparatus they decided to make Engine 11 a pumper/squad. I know that Northbrook was trying to use a vehicle out of Station 12 that was lighter then the tower ladder on EMS runs, and a few years ago they used a small van for that purpose. This Freightliner has compartment space and more room then a van so it can run as some type of a rescue squad and not just an EMS assist unit. It would be interesting to find out what Northbrook intends to do with this rig.
