The 1974 Hendrickson/Pierce/Morita (E-197) went out of service in 1987 sometime. But the 1988 Federal/Eone 135’ ladder (E-257) wasn’t delivered until April 1988. So there were several months between the two trucks when Truck 1 was probably in a spare. The Eone didn’t receive the Aerial Tower designation until 1990.

John – I believe the E-One that was AT 1 prior to the Pierce is an ’88

I’m assuming the date was wrong. But still,I didn’t know the Morita Lift was still in service in 87.

Quite a ride for TL 23. Other than TL 27, they would have had the longest response of the Towers at that time. With no spares, the Towers used to go into conventional trucks when their rigs were OOS. So I guess it’s possible that a few TLs were OOS at the time of this fire.
