Thank You Joe. So I guess you can specify either type then.
So at least the cab won’t rust into nothing like the frame. 🙂

This is a stainless steel cab and body, not aluminum. This will have the same mirrors as the other recent Schaumburg Pierce models. I’ve personally driven apparatus with both types of mirrors, the ones that Schaumburg orders just move the blind spot to a different area, all mirrors create blind spots. These types of mirrors prevent the mirror from moving when the door is slammed shut and reduce vibration overall. Some like these, some like the more traditional mirrors. To each their own.

Well Fred, I can understand your concern but the problem with PIERCE is the frame and ladders since the cab is aluminum.
I’m sure the mirrors do help and I would imagine some are ordering rigs with cameras to help with visibility.
Some people don’t like the VELOCITY/IMPEL just because they think those mirrors make the rig look stupid.
MFD doesn’t like the VELOCITY pumpers they have and went back to the ARROW XT so I guess its academic for some.

This will become the new Engine 51, and the current Engine 51 will move to Engine 54 and Engine 54’s current rig will become reserve.

Does anyone know if having the mirrors where they are actually improves visability? Just curious

Looks like it is coming along well. I thought this was going to be the new E 52. But whatever, it still looks like it is going to be a nice rig! I am guessing the current E 51 will go to E54?
