Yes ffpm571 the companies with the oldest rigs will most likely get newer “hand me down” rigs. The policy handing down rigs to slower companies seems to have become more a frequent occurrence since the ALS companies were first put in service in 1997 and it’s usually some of the busier ALS Engines that more often then not that get the brand new rigs. When it comes to new Trucks they are more likely to get new rigs according to the age of the Truck but again that isn’t always the case either.

Just because you have an older rig does not mean you will get a new one. The older rigs are at slower companies. So more than likely they will get new rigs .. just not the new rigs.

Of the three “rumoured” Engines for getting the next batch of new E/ONES Engine 104 make the most sense in terms of age as it is one of 4 20 year old Engines that are still in front line service. Engine 11 is about a year younger at 19 years of age and Engine 97 is a few years newer and is 16 years of age and is an early 2001 model. There about 10 Engines that are older then Engine 97’s current rig that are still in front line service. Engine 97 has a ways to go before it’s turn to be replaced unless Engine 97 is really in bad shape.
