Just thought I would throw this in–Looks like Roselle has a new Pierce Engine (E64) and Tower (TL64) in service. Saw them the other night. Looks like they also got rid of, at least one piece of equipment, aside from selling off the engine that was replaced.

Joe, I’ve been told Engine 51 has been ordered already (I got blue prints of it) and the Squad I’m not sure.
#3 by Joe on October 31, 2016 - 11:00 AM
Schaumburg’s squad will be a Pierce on a Velocity chassis. Squad 55A, a Rosenbauer, will be kept as is due to the relatively low milage and engine hours.
Engine 51 will also be a Pierce on an Impel chassis.
Current Squad 55 will be sold after the delivery of the new Pierce. Current Engine 51 (2008 Pierce Impel) will be handed down to engine 54. Current engine 54 will be the new spare. The current spare rig, ex engine 53, will be sold.
Also, as I understand it from my contacts at Schaumburg, these apparatus have not been ordered, they have just been approved and put in the budget.

Tyler is Schaumburg’s new squad going to be a 2 piece unit to replace the current 2 pieces of Squad 55 or will it be one large unit to replace both pieces? The way it was written it sounds like it is one unit replacing both. The second piece now is already very large so I don’t see how they can replace both units with one piece.

Michael M. Engine 51 is Pierce and Squad I’ll have to figure that one out shortly when I get more Info.

Where did Schaumburg order the new engine and Squad from?
#7 by Tyler Tobolt on October 30, 2016 - 6:41 PM
Schaumburg has ordered a brand new Engine to replace Engine 51, the current Engine 51 will replace Engine 54 and they also just ordered a new Squad to replace both Squad 55 and Squad 55A

Who did they order the squad through and are they keeping the current rigs as spares then?

Downers Grove also has a Ferrara MVP on order though its not showing in production on the Ferrara site.

There is no question that E/One seems to be making a comeback. Wheeling recently purchased a Rosenbauer engine and tower ladder after having a Sutphen mid-mounted tower and Spartan/Crimson engines. I believe that Hoffman Estates purchased a few units from Ferrara. Streamwood got a Seagrave tower ladder quint, a rarity in the Chicago area both because it is a Seagrave and because it’s an Apollo model which is not as popular as other tower ladders.

It seems the Chicago market is becoming more and more a two party system, E-One or Pierce. With the occasional Alexis or Spartan thrown in for good measure. Next to none Seagraves, KME, Smeal (etc) being ordered.

I believe fox lake also has a new pumper tanker on order from Alexis. I think they’re replacing the 88 E-one pumper tanker.

I wonder if the pumper for Long Grove is to replace Squad 55? It seems most likely.
