Yes almost everything makes sense after the fact. At the time it was pretty much unknown that he was not at all what he appeared.

Well I guess some people out there would be indignant if he didn’t take his hat off. Perhaps he is required to have it on in case there is a call that requires his attention much the same way as the pukes killed LT. Gliniewicz. I don’t know who the youngster is or the officer but it’s a touching gesture on a very sad and tragic occasion.
