This from Jeff Harkey:
With recent changes to CFD units, I took the opportunity to update my lists and maps.
I hope to take up the continuing task of plotting significant incidents during the holidays. I’m currently working on the 1930s.
Here’s the link to the site for Chicago Fire equipment:
I want to make this resource available to your readers, but I also know that if there are any errors the readers will point them out immediately!
Have a great Holiday,
Jeff

This history is wonderful. Keep up the good work. I love it. I’m from Michigan and a career firefighter. I used to go to Chicago 3 and 4 time a year, during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I stayed at the stations for a week each time. I was treated as a member of their houses and their crew. I was assigned to a spot on either the Snorkel, or the Tender that followed and fought fire with the Best Firefighters in the Nation. I learned from the best and it made me a better firefighter back home. Reading some of this brings back memories, good and bad of what I experienced when riding with the elite of the profession. Thanks for the Memories.

O.K. Jeff, you asked for it. The photo is of Snorkel 1, later Snorkel Squad 3. Box 5182, Chicago and Hamlin, was pulled for the Our Lady of the Angles School fire. Box 25539 did not exist yet. Fire alarm boxes were placed outside of schools, hosptials, etc. as a result of that fire. I believe the only differences on the box response would be Division 2, not 6, and Battalion 23, not 24. The engines and trucks were the same.
Thanks for the interesting posting!

I like those maps, I notice though that E11, E79 & E38 are off just a bit
