This from martin Nowak:
North Palos had Osage rechassis Ambulance 8R2 (2003 Ford) onto a new Chevy Express chassis. Former 822 was put into reserve status as 8R2. All are my photos expect the of Former 8R2. That is an Osage photo.

thanks Wayne with most new ambulances costing around 200k 86k for a chassis and remounting a good box seems like a wise decision.

Mike, I worked for a service that did a rechassis (went from a Ford E series to a Chevy Express) and also extensive refurb work, for $86,000. A lot of the cost depends on the manufacturer and the work you have done. Another place I worked for literally dropped the box on a new chassis and had no refurb work done. My guess is that is a LOT cheaper.

From the looks of it, it is the same height.

So can anyone tell me what this cost to do? Chassis cost and remount cost.

Maybe it is just me, but it appears that the box is taller after the re-chassis.
