Rockford Engine 15 is a 1989 Ford C-8000 / Darley 1000/500. It indeed is x-Engine 4. If you look close or open the door you can see the Lime Green paint job on the inside of the cab. The rig was delivered with a white over lime green paint job. Photos to follow.

I am from New Milford F.P.D. We’re near Rockford, IL. That engine you were asking about looks like an old Rockford Engine. Believe it was a front line engine until they put it into reserve status. That’s why it is number engine 15.

if you look at the gallery in the link drew provided, the older fords with the small blue numbers on the door and the enclosed 888 in front top was first white red rigs even before the van style same type of rig converted to the old 631

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know why they changed to just white and red?

The old Ford C is indeed a retired Rockford engine. Fairly sure it was a Darley and I believe it last served at Rockford Engine 4, but they had a few of these so I could have them mixed up. Believe it or not this was a front line rig not that long ago…

The late 70s or early 80s saw CFD modular ambulances with black over red cabs on the pickup chassis but white over red on the box. Check out Bill Friedrich’s site

up until the early 80s chicago had ambos with black over red cabs but the boxes were white over red. that’s also the last time ambos had red and green lights in light bars

Chicago hasn’t had black over red ambulances since 1972/73 when we received our last Cadillac Ambulance. If they were black over red, they would probably look like Air Bag Utility Unit 561 located at Engine 4’s house.

Wow, nice International. Those colors just pop. Wish Chicago had black over red Ambulances.

Not sure on the origin, but it’s been at that lot for over a year, possibly two. I think they also used it in the Palatine parade this year, not sure who rented it.

Ron, that looks like an old Rockford engine.
