“b&p fire apparatus has a engine and tower for sale on their web site not sure what units they were”
Indeed. SFD’s previous reserve engine and tower ladder are up for sale on their site. Also, for anyone that cares, the new Pierce Impel Engine 53 is in service and taking calls.

This new Pierce truck will be stationed at SFD Sta #52. The old Truck 52 will become the Reserve Truck. Schaumburg will have 1 Tower (53), and 1 stick (52).

Yes, joe you’re correct. They will put the old Truck 52 and Engine 53 to spare and sell their reserve truck & engine now
#11 by josh on July 5, 2012 - 7:43 PM
It looks like the new truck might have an aluminium ladder
#12 by Joe on July 5, 2012 - 2:19 PM
Not as of right now. The plan is to sell the spare truck and place the current truck 52 (aerial tower) in service as the spare truck.
According to this site truck 53 is a 2001 E-One Hurricane, truck 52 was a 2000 E-One. I’d imagine, just based on the age, that they’ll replace truck 53 at some point in the next few years, but it also depends on the milage and use of each rig.
Schaumburg’s current spare engine will be sold and the old engine 53 (which was just replaced by a 2011 Pierce) will be placed in service as the new spare engine.

#16 by Tyler T. on July 4, 2012 - 5:22 PM

Are you sure that the new Truck is going to Truck 53 ? Traditionally Schaumburg Truck 53 has been a Tower Ladder while Truck 52 has been the straight Aerial Ladder?

Nice truck. Tyler sure will love it. They also have a new ambulance for 54 coming soon.
