As previously mentioned, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District is changing their apparatus from red with a white roof to red with a black roof. The new Pierce quint arrived with the new scheme and they have since been working on the other front line rigs. Engines 51 and 52 have new paint and graphics and the squad is mid-change as shown below.

I believe that one of the reasons that Lincolnshire/Riverwoods moved the Truck to Station 53 is because all of the companies at Station 51 are “Jump” companies, including the ambulance. In addition to the Shift Commander being at Station 51 there are usually only three men on duty at Station 51 and they “Jump” between Engine 51, Ambulance 51 and Squad 51. Station 53 has at least 2 men assigned to the Truck and 2 men to the Ambulance.
The Lincolnshire/Riverwoods Fire Department only has 12 to 15 men on duty at a time, I know that 2 men assigned to a Truck or Engine company is not a good idea and a dangerous practice as well but at least Truck 53 has a “dedicated crew” on it. At Station 51 the same crew of 3 goes with the ambulance, engine or the squad, depending on what’s called for.
Sometimes the Truck may have 3 men assigned to it but they will run with a minimum of 2 men, and 2 men on Ambulance 53. The same is true for Engine and Ambulance 52. I believe that there is also an office park in Station 53’s district as well. They opted to have the squad centrally located instead of the truck. If they had more men at the Lincolnshire/Riverwoods fire department where they wouldn’t have the companies at Station 51 as “Jump” companies then it might make more sense to have the truck at Station 51.
That’s just my opinion, however.

Not only did they repaint the rigs, they moved the centrally located truck to their newer station on the northern end of their district. Now the residents of the south end of the LRFPD have to wait extra minutes for T53 to get there or wait for Wheeling or Buffalo Grove to come in with a ladder. Don’t understand the reason for the change.

You know what, I like the look of black over red, but I always thought that Lincolnshire rigs looked good as they were. Now they have the dark stripe down the side which looks stupid and a black ladder which is even worse. That new ladder truck would have looked good if it was painted as the other one was.

It looks nice, but it is a waste of money. When Roberts Park bought the former Rescue Me ladder, they didnt update their fleet. The two newer apparatus at station 1 were bought with the same color scheme as Ladder 31 (FDNY). Engine 32 had an update (chevron striping), but it wasn’t major or a waste of money.

Another classic example of a waste of taxpayers money… glad I don’t live in that district.
