Scott Peterson informs us that Elk Grove Fire Department Quint 8 is now Quint 7. It has been moved to Station 7 and will run as the spare when the tower is out of service. When the Quint is in service, it will be known as Truck 7.

Elk Grove Village recently renumbered this as Quint7. It will live at Station7 as a reserve truck. Scot Peterson photo

Formerly Quint 8 which ran for several years as the in-service suppression unit from Elk Grove Station 8, it is now in reserve status at Station 7.

@Adam: Tower 7 in-service front line at Station 7, was out for routine maintenance and lighting upgrades. Quint 7 back in reserve. @David, Eng 8 has been running front line for almost 3 years now. @RICH, Quint 7 is a reserve apparatus not manned unless there is a callback, then the callback would be dept wide. Even if Tower 7 is out-of-town, a callback is not automatic and there is no cross-manning (jump cos) at this time of any Engines/Trucks or Ambulances. Also out of room at Station 8 for the Quint.

To my knowledge, Tower 7 is still in full service, saw it the other day. Quint 7 (formally Quint 8) will be in reserve at Station 7 to back up Tower 7 if needed. Makes sense and easier to switch out equipment when the Tower is out of service or maybe out of town on a mutual aid call, Quint 7 could be available for back-up, though it is not manned itself.
