It would make too much sense that Chicago buy this rescue. It’s not gonna happen unless the union/firefighters/residents say enough is enough. In the meantime, the city will run rigs until they don’t run.

Selling this rig is a smart move for the CHFD. The money they get can be put towards more necessary things as a previous post mentioned. The next owner of this vehicle is getting a good, low mileage vehicle with lots of service life remaining.

There is no reason that Chicago should pass up the opportunity to buy this and add it to the spare squad/hazmat/dive fleet. None. It has a small footprint and will fit in all the same houses, it’s a Pierce (which their shops do have experience working on), it has next to no miles and has been maintained according to recommendations, and while it’s not built to their “spec,” none of the other units they’re using (old EG23, etc.) are purpose built for this role either.
