I replaced 3 leaking gear boxes on Pierce TAK-4 just this week. When is Pierce going to improve their product? This is a very expensive repair and the rigs weren’t even that old!

I didn’t think Pierce had any demo trucks available. With lead times on new trucks being around 2 years throughout the industry, the apparatus builders don’t have much for demos these days. Hope it serves them well! That Spartan/Crimson is a beautiful looking truck but it’s a shame it’s no longer a reliable truck.

Sebastian,
Correct, Truck 983 is an aerial ladder with no bucket, but it’s getting replaced by Tower 981. Truck 983 will no longer be a thing, unsure if they are keeping it as reserve or not. It’s had lots of problems and has been OOS most of the year so far.

I thought their current truck is 983- a ladder truck and not a tower?

Michael M,
Current line up for Huntley is,
Station 1: Battalion 9 / QRV 920 (Soon to be gone) / Brush 961 / Air 5/ Tower 981
Station 2: Ambulance 952 / Engine 942 / Tender 973
Station 3: Ambulance 953 / Engine 943
Station 4: Ambulance 954 / Engine 944 (Cross Staffed)
Station 5: Ambulance 955 / Engine 945
The new Tower is going to run out of Station 1 and replace QRV 920.
Rumor also has it Station 4s ambulance might be dropped soon, so might be just a single engine house.

Nice looking truck! I am surprised they went with Pierce. What suppression company are they running out of station 1 currently? I passed the new station 1 several months ago and did see they are running a BC and a EMS rapid response unit out of station 1.
I know they move their engines around. The last time I was in Huntly they were running the 2020 Toyne out of station 5, the 2015 Pierce out of 2, and the 2007 Pierce out of station 3. They will have 3 front line Pierce rigs with the addition of this unit. I am sure they still have at least 1 Pierce in reserve. The current ladder is a 2013 the previous ladder was a 2002 Pierce.

They are going to continue to only run one truck, which will be moving to Station 1 soon. This was a demo truck that was purchased after they experienced some issues with their current truck.

Well this is interesting. I never knew Huntley was building a new truck. I’m surprised to see them with a tower ladder. I’m guessing the current truck is going to be a spare then or are they going to run 2 truck companies now.
