Crab they’re required to have an electronic siren, or a back up siren per NFPA. I don’t remember much after that, It’s been a few years since I speced rigs. Maybe someone can elaborate.

Mike C, they are pull down steps. which can also be used as a seat if you like. A way for those height challenged FF’s to reach the upper part of the compartments. Our two newest Rosenbauers have one on the pump panel compartment. The mechanics may like it for when they have to access behind the pump panel but I find it to get in the way when it is down and I am running the pump. I would probably not spend the extra money on them again but that is just my one opinion.

What are the panels for on the lower portion of the compartments? Sharp looking rig!
Pierce failures over the past 5 years:
– The Dash CF chassis was improperly engineered leading to overheating issues and ultimately, discontinuing this chassis due to poor design.
– The Ascendant ladders were recalled shortly after their release due to major structural/integrity issues with the ladder.
– The Command Zone had a recall due to ladders moving without the operator’s command and leading to ladders colliding with buildings or other objects.
– The TAK-4 front suspension has had multiple recalls, some as serious where wheels fell off while the fire apparatus was in motion.
– Pierce has had hundreds of pieces of fire apparatus with heavy frame rail corrosion. Pierce indirectly acknowledges they have a problem with biodegradable frame rails by announcing all frame rails going forward will have E-Coat Corrosion Protection.

Looks like another nice one. What are those two square screens on either side of the bumper with the ROSENBAUER logo on them?
