On our engines this is where the pike poles and attic ladder are, but without them being open this is just speculation. Hard suction storage is also a viable idea.

Looks nice, love the color scheme! What are those two compartments on either side of the rear hose bed going to be for? I think it is an odd place for a compartment that high up.
