They have 6 engines in service. I am guessing they have the 5 Pierce engines and a Sutphen engine serving as front line engines.

WOW! I did not realize that many firefighters retired from Gary over the last two years! It seemed like Gary was heading in the right direction pre COVID. Station 3 was re-Opened. Hopefully the powers that be will try to accelerate the hiring process and get station 3 re opened. With the two new vehicles that are being built, there is no reason why they can’t get the manpower and re open 1 or 2 fire stations. With these two new rigs they will have 7 new rigs in the last 4 years!
I wonder if this will be labeled engine 4 or squad 4? Perhaps they can sell the two rescues they currently have.

Gary fire department has major manpower problems three truck engine 3 and the squad when out of service because no manpower like twenty or thirty guys retired over the last two years and Gary is taking there time hiring replacements

When did they close Station 3 again?

Wait Cory I thought Gary had 3 trucks in service? The blue/red HME, the white/red HME, and the Ferrara tower. Also I thought station 2 had a squad, is that no more?

With the new rigs that Gary has being built, are they planning on re opening any of the closed fire houses? Or will two of the engines currently in service go into reserve?

Does anyone know where the tender is coming from? Also, the Ferrara TL that was out of service for so long is back in service.

Glad they are getting two new pieces of apparatus! The 2018 Pierce Engines are now 4 years old, I am sure those rigs helped put the department back on the right track when it comes to replacing apparatus!

One of the Sutphen engines Gary got a few years back is for sale on Brindlee Mountain. I was by Station 5 the other day and there were 2 Sutphen engines, the ALF rear mount truck, and a Ferrara Engine numbered 8.

Perhaps this station will get the new one since this rig is 22 years old unless it hasn’t been updated for a while.

Tons of eye candy on this site for those not familiar with it.

There were some pictures of a recent fire where Engine 13 had a Saber…Gary and where their rigs are located is pretty fluid

They received 5 saber engines a few years ago. From what I’ve heard they’re at engines 1,4,5,8 & 9.

It’s awesome to see Gary getting new trucks again. I wonder how many new trucks they’ll be getting and if they’ll get a new aerial. In terms of where it’ll go I feel like 2’s would be more reasonable if they wanted to replace the squad.
#22 by Matthew G on January 24, 2022 - 10:03 AM
MABAS I hope you’re right. I can certainly see them running the squad as a first-due engine (FDNY style) and replacing the Chevy mini-squad they have now. I am curious if this would go to 4’s or 2’s (replacing Truck 2).

Judging by the amount of cabinets, I wonder if this will be assigned to “squad” duties.

I wonder if they have more engines on order……..

Sharp looking and no nonsense. No mistaken that Gary color pattern.
