7of the 10 tower ladders have been replaced. Tower 63 was replaced just this year.
It will be interesting to see who gets the new tower from this order. Off the top of my head, maybe tower 24, the new tower company on the south side?

These pictures are also on The facebook group Cfd vehicles past and present and someone also posted pictures of the 9 new buggies they seem to be like the 2017s with red roofs instead of black or they just haven’t been painted yet.

this is the first engine of 9 on this part of the order…. the ninth was added on to be assigned to the academy… also on this order under the 5 year purchase agreement (not contract) there will be 9 engine 8 ladders and 1 tower ladder. the purchase agreement was signed on 1-16-2019 and it ends on 1-15-2024 for a maximum amount of $106,035,740. As of the end of October 2021, the city has only spent $18,063,321.91 according to the payments issued under the contract by the Procurement Services Office of the City of Chicago.

Jim the cut outs are for the hand pumps. The trucks started getting these when they bought the crimson trucks.

I’m thinking the hand pump.

Mike Hellmuth, this purchase is part of a 5 year contract that was to have officially begun in February of 2019, so it should be good until February of 2024. It covers engines, trucks and tower ladders. The CFD orders various apparatus each year which has to do with funding. It also might have been set back because of the COVID 19 Pandemic, but this purchase is still part of the contract.

Seems to me that there are aluminum wheels that are pretty much identical in style to those steel but they are available as painted rather than the shine.

Michael m, that’s the EMS cabinet. It’s pretty forward thinking for CFD.

Is this the last of the big order or are these add on orders?

Looks like these engines will have exterior compartment access on the officers side.

Crabby – Me too but I think the aluminum is better in the Chicagoland climate. It seems like the steel wheels corrode faster in Chicago.

Perhaps I may be one of the few that really love that style of wheels.
