I wonder what they will do with the current fire academy when the new one is opened.
I personally wouldn’t tear it down and would keep it for use of the fire department and the city. I would even consider moving the Chicago Fire Department museum there. That building is too unique to tear down and it should be a registered landmark as that is where the Chicago fire began.

This new training center will provide the latest training technology for the CPD and CFD. The new academy will feature classrooms, offices, labs, simulators, a shooting range, a pool, a gym, a cafeteria, a tactical village, a burn tower, an outdoor training village, a driving course, and much more. I can’t wait for this project once it is all completed in 2023-24. It will further revolutionize how police and firefighters train and it will invest in West Garfield Park, bring many jobs to the community and build community relations.
