The Pierce recall is true…both of Indianapolis’ new Ascendent tower ladders (Ladder 6 and Ladder 22) have been sent back.

Can you see why I despise Pierce? One thing after another with this company.

Yes, the Pierce recall is true. It’s the third fly section on the Ascendant. The metal basically starts tearing and coming apart. Several on the east coast. Bloomington il bought a tandom 107 and it failed the aerial test before they ever took delivery. PGFD has had several go back for replacement of the third section. Pierce is working hard to keep it hush hush.

Has anyone heard of Pierce Ascendants recall – not the recall in 2019, but just recently for faults in the ladder “flys”? I’m told of steel failures and Pierce is quietly having them replaced….even on brand new rigs.

Truck 1: 2009 Spartan Gladiator
Engine 2: 2010 Spartan Gladiator (Ex E-4)
Engine 3: 2018 E-One Typhoon
Engine 4: 2018 Pierce Enforcer
Truck 5: 2009 Spartan Gladiator
Engine 6: 2008 Spartan Diamond (Ex E-3)
Engine 7: 2019 E-One Cyclone II
Squad 8: 2008 Spartan Diamond
Squad 9: Unknown
Engine 10: Unknown
Engine 10 was in a 2005 E-One Typhoon for the longest time, then they got Engine 7’s old 2008 Spartan. Squad 9 was put in service the week of May 6th, and I’m not sure what vehicle they have. I saw them in a reserve engine originally, but they were in a Spartan the other day. The original plan was for the Spartan at 10 to go to 9 when this truck went in service, so I assume that plan is still in place, but with Naperville, you never know.

Looks nice! As far as I know currently station 1 has a ladder, 2,3 and 4 have engines. Station 5 has a ladder, 6,7 have engines. Station 8 has the squad. Station 9 currently has the tower ladder. Station 10 has an engine.
I know they will eventually have a squad at 9. With a second squad at 9 I don’t know if they plan to put the second squad at 5 or if they will keep it at 8. Rumor has it the only two stations that will have trucks will be 1 and 10.
