T7 going out of service? What in the actual hell are you talking about? This is becoming ridiculous. I understand there’s people with actual mental handicaps that comment on here regularly, but please keep the nonsense to yourself.

Aerial Tower 8 is going in service at Engine 28s house in place of Truck 8, nothing is changing with Truck 7, and Aerial Tower 1 is most likely going to become a regular truck again. Unless there’s some real high level shenanigans going on anything else is speculation of the highest order.
The city must have 61 truck companies in service, which is the number of trucks currently in service. There’s no arguing that the aerial tower or any tower ladder isn’t a truck for contractual purposes as 95% of the time they’re all filling the same roles.

Truck 7 is not going out of service and there isn’t a new contract. Do t let anyone fool you. The city has money for what they want to spend it on.

I’m guessing that’s just the beginning. Did the Local ratify a contract? I remember someone saying that the Squads are not part of daily staffing? When Milwaukee cut they started slow by reducing staffing on the rigs from 5 on some to eventually all. After that companies were closed, and decommissioned. When it was done the department lost a third of it strength. Today We have 30 engines and 8 trucks. They don’t consider the rescues. I hope for the best. John

Those are great glossy shots. What was done to make to shots so bright and glossy in comparison to the shot of Aerial Tower 8 in the previous post?

Truck 7 will most likely be decommissioned and Aerial Tower 8 will be put in its place at the same station. I am wondering though if the union can fight to keep Truck 7 in service. I know their contract says something about how many trucks, engines, squads…etc have to be in service. Not sure exactly on the wording but I think they could argue that the Aerial Tower isn’t technically a truck according to the contract language. And that could be the loop hole to keeping an extra truck in service.

HA! Mike L, I was going to say the same thing! You beat me to the punch!
I think the headlights above the warning lights is a better option! Nice to have the flexibility. Reason being, if anything is mounted on the bumper, the headlights still clear. Beautiful rig and I can see Chicago getting 30+ years out of this!
Does Chicago allow multi-plexing in their rigs?
