Mike C you are completely wrong. The Rosenbauer Chassis is considered a Spartan on Steroids in the Rosenbauer World. All of the engineers were from either Spartan or HME. Rosenbauer was Spartans largest customer. Spartan cut off all OEM’s that built their own cab’s right around the time Spartan ERV became the name of Crimson. So Rosenbauer had to scramble to create their chassis. Originally Rosenbauer was only going to make the Commander to compete in the high end chassis Pierce Quantum, E-One Quest, Spartan Gladiator Market. They had no interest in being in the Metro Star // HME// Pierce Sabre Market. Once Rosenbauer made their own cab Spartan said no more on purchasing our cab. Look around you the only ones that offer Spartan besides Spartan ERV are the Mom and Pops that don’t build their own chassis.

Mike,
The original Commander design was based off Spartans Gladiator chassis. Does it look like a Spartan now? No. Is it based off the Spartan? Well, when the “Spartan Guys” go to work for Rosenbauers chassis division pretty good chance there are some similaritys. Please don’t tell me I’m wrong when you don’t know me or my background. Just fyi, I’m originally from Lansing Michigan.

Tim, the Rosenbauer cab is not even close to the same design as Spartan. I’m pretty sure Spartan uses 1/8″ aluminum on the cab, Rosenbauer uses 3/16″. Rosenbauer has a one piece windshield and Spartan used 2 windshields. I’m sure there are plenty of other differences in which I don’t have time to write but will say you’re wrong when you say “The cabs are a Spartan design”.

The cabs are a Spartan design. Marion is one of Spartan sub contractors.

I’m not a fan of their aerials. The quality has never impressed me. I don’t have much experience with the Rosenbauer cab/chassis but I think it’s pretty decent. Marion builds the cab. The General bodies seem to be pretty decent. Can’t say I’ve heard much for negativity about their quality but I know from a sales standpoint their staff is lacking knowledge. I have never been thrilled with their communication and logistical process from the signing of the contract to the delivery of the rig.

I’ve heard mixed things about the quality on ROSENBAUR but this is one fine looking rig.
Hopefully they are improved.
