This from the Roberts Park FPD website:
The Roberts Park Fire Protection District is proud to announce the acceptance of a new tower ladder. The Crimson brand ladder is capable of reaching 93 feet into the air. This truck, manufactured in 2014, was formerly owned by the Alexandria, Virginia Fire Department. After some minor refurbishment it has a new home, right here in Justice. In our continued effort to exercise fiscal responsibility, we saved approximately half the cost of ordering a brand new truck. This vehicle comes to us fully inspected and certified and carries a warranty as well. We expect to place Tower 305 in service in mid-July, after all of our operators have been fully trained.
thanks Dennis

31 and 3R are in service. Tower 305 is the only apparatus numbered right now. It has graphics. Sent photos in.

RP has had some really BAD LUCK with their rigs!!! WOW
#3 by MABAS 21 on June 30, 2019 - 8:11 PM
As of yesterday, RP is running Ex E31 as Eng 303 and E3R as Eng 302. The new Seagrave engine is still OOS, not sure why. Tower 305 needs striping/letting done along with mounting equipment.

So, what were they/are they running (currently) as their suppression companies at Roberts Park if those two engines are OOS?
#5 by Martin on June 28, 2019 - 10:25 PM
Engine 32 and 3R both are out of service.

The former Roberts Park Ladder 31 is sitting prominently along I-94 near Racine, WI at the Hribar Corporation, doing what I have no idea. Just saw it yesterday while passing by.

Tim, you are correct; as there were 6 tower ladders operating at one time in the division. They were:
*Central Stickney 906, Simon-Duplex/LTI 75′ RM
*Bedford Park 709, Pierce Dash 100′ RM
*Burbank 206, Sutphen 85′ MM
*Roberts Park 305, KME Aerialcat 102′ RM
*North Palos 804 HME/3D/NovaQuintec SkyArm100′ RM
*Chicago Ridge 6504, E-One Hurricane 95′ RM
These were in addition to the Snorkels and straight sticks that were in service at the time.

Division 21 used to be loaded with tower ladders. And I’m not even talking about the Oak Lawn tower ladder. Oops am i showing my age? LOL

Tom Foley – Central Stickney does not still have their tower. They have an Ascendant rearmount stick now. I would assume that they would not change how they run as they only staff an engine, truck, 2 medics and a BC. I would guess it will follow the medic as Ladder 31 did and Tower 305 did prior.

Good point about adding a second tower (with Bedford). Does Central Stickney still have theirs?
Anyone have info on whether RP will run this first due on ambo calls?

i believe this has a better turn radius than ladder 31. this will be a benefit to division 21 by adding a second tower to the division

It looked better in Alexandria paint. should have saved money and kept it that way.

Yes RP has changed their apparatus numbering back to their former numbering. Part of the reason was due to switching dispatch centers from Justice to Hickory (Hills). Tradition and the lack of other departments in the division changing their existing numbers were the other reasons.

Tower 305 was their old tower before the Pierce Truck. If I’m not mistaken the numbers changed before the Pierce arrived. I remember the sign said something about a new Ladder 31 when it first arrived. Maybe this has something to do with the box cards that the number for the tower ladder is resorting back to the old number system?
#15 by Michael m on June 13, 2019 - 11:53 AM
Did they change their numbering system? I thought it would have been Tower 31?

Thanks Harry, I forget about leasing….

I think they will regret such a big truck. Several narrow streets and areas in the service area. I think they may especially regret if it is first due with ambo on calls from the station.
All that said, it sounds like they have had a rough go with the pierce and some other engine problems. Wasn’t the engine purchase an emergency purchase?
Hope it serves them and the communities well.

I read from a local buff there that it was in service for a few years and replaced by a tiller. Was a spare from then on out. Had some issues that I believe were addressed.

john I believe like a lot of east coast and florida dept Alexandria leases there rigs I know Arlington co va leases most of there fd vehicles aside fro bc pu and special vehicles but all engines ladders and ambos are leased for 5 years then they go saves money that way
