For the service I work for we run 2500+ annually in the urban setting. We have gas engine Wheeled coach ambulances also. They serve us well and have minimal problems when routinely serviced and maintained. This is a nice looking ambulance and I hope it serves SP well

well for a village like schiller park with lower call volume it may work but in the long haul we will see if in 12 -15 years if they still have this and how it is holding up I know there are lots of gas engines for ambulances around leyden northlake river forest Maywood Romeoville and so on but we will see

If Ford’s new 7.3-liter gas engine is a success and with its availability in both the E-series and F-series cab/chassis, I believe you are going to see a gradual increase in gas powered ambulances. Without a doubt, there are pros/cons to both the gas and diesel engine, but budgets are getting tight all around and the approx. $8k savings may be enough to sway a city councilman, village or fire district trustee to vote for the gas powered chassis.

despite being a gas engine at least it is replacing something that has been in sp for almost 20 years
