Have officials given any reasoning for the consolidation?Seems like the eastern part of Elk Grove would be better served with the north and south locations of the Oakton and Greenleaf houses. They seem to get quite a few pin in accidents on Higgins.

Best of luck with the new stations Chief! They are beautiful! Great attention to detail, efficient floor plan, and a great place to house Elk Groves finest.

We are proud of the new facilities we are constructing, and we greatly appreciate the support we received from the elected officials who made this all possible. I’ll leave the debate about the individual merits of the design and building components up to you folks. You are welcome to come tour the stations when they open in May. Thanks for your interest in our Department.

The station isn’t that plain, they could have just put up a metal warehouse type building and called it a day. There is some architectural detail and there is design that went into it. The stations number one purpose is to house firefighters and apparatus. It needs to be functional over aesthetically pleasing. It costs a lot of money to build a grandiose building.

Both of the Elk Grove Fire Stations have safety beams for each bifold door so when something is in the path of the door, it will recycle or stay open so that the apparatus or a human are not damaged or injured. The administration and/or architect made a good decision by choosing these doors! They are far more reliable than a roll up door and they minimize the time they’re open leading to a more secure facility and less heat loss.
You’re just a amateur who trolls online looking for information. Good for you! There’s a lot more going on in the fire service than you know. BTW: Horton did not acquire or buyout Medtec. You are LOST!

well mike c also if I don’t know what I am talking about then why did Orlando florida fd tell me these bi fold doors have no sensor so whatever gets in the way there will be a problem are u aware that lincolnshires newest station built about 10 years ago said these doors close in 6 seconds and will crush whats in the way so how is this a good idea but all that matters is what the chiefs and trustees like resident never have input while I would never live in elk grove village because it is still in crook co and I will move to the east coast in the future where everything is better

well mike c if I don’t know what I am talking about how does a village that likely has a ton of money put up 2 plain fire stations but the new public works garage is sharp how does that happen how do they get all these fancy and new vehicles but I don’t know what I am talking about that is not true at all

It looks plain? It looks beautiful! Love the bifold doors! Smart way to go! Harry doesn’t know what he’s talking about!

I am guessing Engine 9 will be placed in reserve and Engine 9’s Crew will be the crew on quint 8?

Other than Engine 10 and Ambulance 10 what will be housed at station 10? Will the reserve apparatus be housed at Station 10?

You are correct, Station 8 and Station 9 are in fact being combined into this new Station 8. The number of apparatus and staffing will remain the same at this point. When the station opens it will house Engine 8 with minimum of three, Quint 8 with minimum of three, and Ambulance 8 with minimum of two. Water Rescue, Tech Rescue and Haz Mat units will also be housed there.

I thought I had heard they are combining Station 8 and Station 9, so it will be interesting to see what is there & how they are staffed.

What apparatus will be put at Station 8? Anything different then how it is now or just Engine/Ambulance 8 and the Hazmat/Dive?

Looks good Rich. Hope they are treating you well.

These photos actually show the construction of Fire Station 8, not Fire Station 10.
Station 10 is also under construction with similar, yet different features.
We plan to open both new stations, and the new Training Facility on the same site as Station 8, in May of 2019.
Thanks for your interest.

Plain is good in my opinion. Especially for a fire station in the middle of the industrial park.

too plain but I am sure it will serve them well
