I thought the same thing ttguy. When I saw the photos of the room with the masked engine, I was thinking this looks so dirty. Then I thought if that is the painting booth, how much dust and junk is getting into the paint. I did look closer at the photo, and they have some sort of tarp on the ground, so then I became less skeptical. I would never expect an active manufacture to be spotless, but it is something to think about when photographing the process. At the end of the day if the build quality is good (which I believe they are) then a messy shop isn’t the end of the world.
Congrats on the new engine East Joliet!

Previous comments I made were not meant to reflect negatively in any way on the good people of the East Joliet FPD. Perhaps these photos were just taken at an inopportune time. But if I were a prospective customer touring this factory and happened to see this environment, I would be a little disappointed. Not saying you should be able to eat off the floor either. The other areas look just fine. Everyone has different expectations of the manufacturer and/or its facilities.

I’ve never really be to fond of Ferrara’s assembly process. I don’t like the idea of building, painting, and trimming out the body on the chassis. Just seems like to much risk of areas without paint protection, overspray, etc.

Well it’s not a grand hotel with a premium steakhouse attached nor is it a private residence. It’s a manufacturing facility so what’s it supposed to look like?
Besides, it doesn’t look that bad and I’m sure they’ll inspect it with a fine tooth comb before they take delivery.

I’m wondering if Ferrara would have preferred that some of these photos not be publicized. The general cleanliness of the area where it appears they will spraying the compartments is not one that most customers would find too appealing. Maybe I’m being overly critical?
