I’m rather curious as to what the red piece of metal is covering on the middle front of the box.

I have no firsthand knowledge and know literally nothing about this situation or these specific apparatus. That said, I’m guessing the reason they’re on a smaller chassis and the reason they’re not black over red is the same reason most things happen on fire departments and within government services (especially in Chicago right now): money.

Anybody knows the reason they put them on this smaller chassis, also the red roof ‘s really unusual.

Look closer, they have sirens on both sides.
No black over red?
It looks like something is covered up under the center light on the front of the body/box

Anyone else notice the siren being placed on one side of one then the opposite of the other one?
