They have an old pierce arrow from the late 80s with a 100 ft stick

May be a stupid question, but I’ll ask anyway. Do they have a spare aerial and what is it?

The new truck is scheduled for final inspection by the department at the Pierce Manufacturing plant in Appleton on Friday according to the Evanston Now website. The old Truck 23 will be sold for scrap once the new one is placed in service.

HA. They said tillers would go the way of the square wheel and 8-track.
Sharp looking rig!

Since Evanston staffs their trucks with three, couldn’t they have saved the city some money by just getting a standard commercial cab?

Nice looking truck. When will it be placed in service?

I wonder why the lights are red by the grille on the trucks but red and blue on the engines any idea

The original questions needs some clarification to be answered properly. Pierce only puts 100′ HD and MD ladders on their tillers, it’s nothing extraordinary aside that its a tiller. Pierce tiller HD vs MD ladder specs …

What are the specs on the ladder or am I missing something?

Why does CFD not have one or two of these for it’s high rises? I’m sure this question has been answered before but I’ve been curious about it.

What exactly are you asking? Chicago has ± 70 trucks and towers, they do the same thing as a tiller.

It wouldn’t make any sense for the city to use these downtown for high rises…… Tillers are made specifically for Towns or Cities with very tight streets. Just like Evanston and Cicero which have very narrow tight streets. If the city placed tillers in service again, it would make sense on the Westside and Far North Side

They would have to pay for a tiller man every shift and they’re too cheap to pay that. Plus it would do any good downtown, maybe on the south or west side where some of the neighborhood roads are a little tight
