Hanover Park is added to the site

In MABAS Division 12, the Hanover Park Fire Department has now been added to the site. They run out of two stations in addition to managing the city Department of Inspection Services with offices in the city hall.

They have four engines, one tower ladder, four medic units, a regional rehab unit, the brand new haz mat unit, and a bunch of support vehicles.

Villa Park is added to the site

The Villa Park Fire Department in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. They cover just under 5 square miles with 26 career firefighters from two stations. They have a mixed fleet of E-ONE and Pierce apparatus with Medtec and Horton medic units. Their new DuPage County station numbers are 81 and 82.

Lombard is added to the site

The Lombard Fire Department in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. Lombard is a career department covering just under 11 square miles from two stations. Their fleet consists of Pierce apparatus and Horton ambulances. They are currently celebrating 100 years of service.

West Chicago FPD is added to the site

The West Chicago Fire Protection District in western Dupage County has been added to the site. The district operates four stations with a combination of full-time, paid-on-call, and contract personnel. They have a Pierce fleet with the exception of a reserve tower ladder and two airport units at the Dupage County Airport.

The fleet is quite large and it includes three reserve engines, a reserve tower ladder, and two reserve ambulances.

Elmhurst added to the site

The Elmhurst Fire Department in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. Dennis McGuire, Jr. submitted the images. Elmhurst recently underwent a color change from their long standing white over school bus yellow with green striping to a more traditional white over red. They also changed from a E-ONE to Pierce.

EMS units are staffed by contract personnel while the fire suppression units have career firefighters.

Previously, Elmhurst had American LaFrance, Pierce, Mack, and Darley engines. The former aerials were both 100′ rear mounts from Pirsch.

Glenside added to the site

The Glenside Fire Protection District in Glendale Heights has been added to the site. Glenside is in MABAS Division 12 and runs out of a single station at the corner of Fullerton Avenue and Bloomingdale Road. The station was originally built in 1970 and underwent an extensive renovation which ended in 2004. They have two Medtec ambulances, a new 2010 Ferrara Inferno engine, two E-ONE HP75 quints, and a Pierce engine. Glenside also houses one of three MABAS Division 12 Haz Mat trailers.

The majority of Glenside apparatus is presently painted black over red. Prior to adding the black roofs, apparatus was white over red beginning in 1996. During the early years of the department, the apparatus was a bright yellow that was also reflected in their patch.

Bloomingdale Fire Protection District No. 1 headquarters fire station 1

The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District No 1 in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. Bloomingdale has three stations though one is strictly used for storage. Station 2 at 6N480 Keeney Road (which has a Roselle address) was originally part of the Keeneyville Fire District. This station has two spare engines and an out-of-service ambulance which may be converted to a dive unit.

Bloomingdale has their own dispatch center in the basement of Station 1 which serves Bloomingdale in addition to the Elk Grove Township Fire Protection District and theItasca Fire Protection District.

Bloomingdale runs a fleet of Pierce apparatus which includes a tower ladder and three engines on a Lance chassis, one engine on an Enforcer chassis, and an engine on a Quantum chassis. They have on order a 2,000-gallon pumper/tanker on a Velocity chassis which is due this year. The two in-service ambulances as well as the Dive Squad all feature boxes built by Horton.

Prior to becoming a Pierce customer, Bloomingdale was exclusively a Pirsch customer for many years. In 1981, they received the last engine on a custom Pirsch chassis that matched two engines and a 1972 85′ mid-ship quint.

Winfield added to the site

In western Dupage County is the town of Winfield. The headquarters station of the Winfield Fire Protection District sits across the street from the Central Dupage Hospital. Winfield has two stations though only the headquarters facility is staffed. A combination of full-time and part-time firefighters have two medic units, an engine, a pumper/tanker, a brush rig and a dive squad at their disposal. Station 2 houses a reserve engine, an inflatable boat, and a Fire Investigation Unit which belongs to the Dupage County Sheriff’s Department with a combined law enforcement/fire personnel task force.

All of the fire suppression units were built by Pierce, the two newest rigs feature the PUC design. Engine 611 was built by Pierce as a stock/demo unit and was displayed at the FDIC in Indianapolis several years ago where it was purchased by Winfield. It features a Custom Contender chassis (which is a modified Saber). The department later developed plans for what would be the first tandem-axle PUC pumper/tanker. Tender 614 was built on an Impel chassis.

Dive Rescue 680, a 1992 Ford E-350 with a Supreme body, was purchased with funds donated by the Fireman’s Fund insurance Company.

The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 12 (Dupage County) will be added to the site soon. Their entire fleet of suppression apparatus including a tower ladder and five engines were all built by Pierce.
