LaGrange Park is in MABAS Division 10. They have two stations covering 2.3 square miles. Station 1 is staffed and Station 2 unmanned. Staffing is provided by four contract medics and 46 paid-on-call personnel. The fleet consists of three engines, a truck, an ambulance, and a utility buggy.

The Lyons Fire Department apparatus photos have been updated on the site. Also, the MABAS Division 10 MVU has been added to the page.
The Forest View Fire Department has been added to the departments in MABAS Division 10. They cover four square miles from one station with three carer and 19 part-time personnel. The fleet consists of one ambulance, two engines, and three support vehicles.

The Brookfield Fire department in MABAS Division 10 has been added to the site. 24 career firefighters cover 3 square miles from two stations. Their suppression fleet is all E-ONE and they have two ambulances from LifeLine.
One interesting note is Reserve Engine 412 was built in 1986 by E-ONE on a chassis by Kovatch (KME) who had recently purchased the Hendrickson fire chassis. The cab is an 1871-W from the Hendrickson line before Kovatch began building their own.

The Lemont Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 10 has been added to the site. Karl Klotz and Larry Shapiro recently photographed the entire fleet and the four fire stations. Lemont runs two Crimson engines, one Ferrara rescue engine, and a Pierce quint. Each of the four stations has a Type I style ambulance featuring two Fords, a Navistar, and a Freightliner chassis with boxes by Medtec and McCoy Miller.

The Tri-State Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 10 has been added to the site. Tri-State operates four stations with two medic units, four engines, a tower ladder and a battalion chief. Their frontline medic units are by Horton and the suppression apparatus is a mix of Crimson, Pierce, and Smeal. The district encompasses areas of Darien, Burr-Ridge, Willowbrook, and unincorporated DuPage County.

The Argonne Laboratory Fire Department has been added to the MABAS Division 10 departments. Argonne had one station on the campus

Argonne National Laboratory, located just outside of Chicago, is one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s largest national laboratories for scientific and engineering research. Our over 1,250 scientists and engineers aim to solve the nation’s most important challenges in energy, the environmentand national security.
The Fire Department consists of 25 career personnel who maintain two ambulances, two engines, a heavy squad, a brush unit, the MABAS Division 10 Decon Unit, and a battalion. The suppression apparatus are all E-ONE and the ambulances are from Wheeled Coach. There is a new ambulance from Wheeled Coach currently on order which will match Ambulance 114.

The trailer for the Decon Unit was recently upgrade with new paint and signage on the outside, plus a new generator and other upgrades to the interior mechanics. Argonne personnel are responsible for maintaining the unit and bringing it to incidents when requested.

The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District currently runs with red and white apparatus. Their newest unit is solid red, and with this purchase they will retire one of the last of their lime-green apparatus which dominated their fleet for many years.

One of the many units that saw service in Western Springs when their apparatus was painted white was this 1981 Pierce Arrow engine. It was one of the early Pierce Arrow models with a chassis that was made by Oshkosh. Engine 437 had a 1,500-GPM pump with 750 gallons of water. The top-mount control station featured a hand-rail due to the large and spacious area.At this point in time, Pierce was building the cab and body. The only unit that the Romeoville Fire Department has run with that was not red was this 1979 E-ONE (DOT) light-duty rescue on a Ford F-350 chassis. Perhaps what is most unusual about this is that these were normally delivered lime green. Bill Friedrich photo

Many years ago, the McCook Fire Department had red apparatus, then they switched to bright yellow for several years before the fleet was changed again to red and white.
The McCook Fire Department responded to an industrial fire this afternoon (Monday) at 9550 Joliet Road. They encountered fire inside a tool manufacturing facility and upgraded the alarm to a Full Still bringing aid from the Pleasantview and Tristate Fire Protection District, Brookfield and Lyons Fire Departments. Evidently while an employee was welding, sparks or embers traveling into a vent ignited the filter. Flames then spread to nearby pallets.
The fire was contained to a relatively small area and produced a significant amount of smoke throughout the plant. McCook called for the new MABAS Division 10 Mobile Ventilation Unit housed in Lyons to help clear the facility.
