This from Shaun Unell:
We are near the end of the work on our KME tanker being refurbished by Alexis Fire Equipment.
- We added on a pre-connected Class A foam system.
- Converted the officers side upper compartments to hinge upward instead of down for better access.
- Switched to our new paint scheme of black over ted and new black striping.
- Updated all warning lighting to LED.
- Installed a new Zico ladder rack which has an extended travel distance.
- Installed a new pump heat shield and replaced some damaged parts like a cab step.
- Completed mechanical repairs and suspension repairs.
- We are having hose troughs installed on both sides of the pump panel and a few final repairs are being completed.
We hope to take delivery of the rig in the next several weeks. Final graphics will be completed at our station.
Video from Larry Shapiro of the Truck fire in Schaumburg, 6-8-16
Schaumburg companies were sent to the SB IL Route 53 local lanes just past I90 just after midnight on Wednesday (6/8/16) for fire in a semi-trailer. They encountered fire in a 40′ trailer that was almost fully-loaded with commercial uniforms. Battalion 5 requested a tanker from Long Grove and the Elk Grove Township to supply Engine 52 with two lines off. Schaumburg Engines 51 and 54 plus Squad 55 were all on the scene and had used their tank water.
Rolling Meadows Engine 16 and Hoffman Estates Engine 21 were also on the scene assisting with manpower during the almost two-hour process to remove the smoldering contents of the truck. Also at the scene were Schaumburg Trucks 52 and 53, and Schaumburg Ambulances 53 and 54.

CODE 4: 3699 CUBA RD
Thu 03/31/2016 @ 21:46
Originally dispatched as a brush fire reported by police. Long Grove arrived, and upon driving down the long driveway discovered the fully-involved, vacant, one-story structure, and it was upgraded to a Code 4. They went defensive from the start and kept the fire from spreading to thick brush and trees nearby. The fire was later upgraded to a Box Alarm for tenders only.
- Three lines were off: Two 2&1/2s and one 1&3/4. One 2&1/2 switched to a Blitzfire portable master stream later into fire.
- Tender 56 was the attack pumper
- Prospect Heights Tanker 9 was the first mutual aid company and fed Tender 56
- Palatine Rural Tanker 36 was the 2nd mutual aid tanker and also nursed
- Palatine Engine 82 backed into driveway and pumped LDH from Cuba Rd. to Prospect Heights Tanker 9

Alexis Fire Apparatus is doing work on Long Grove Fire Protection District Tanker 55. The truck appears on the Alexis Facebook page in these photos sporting a new black roof.
This from Larry Shapiro:
There were no injuries after a tractor-trailer rolled over on the infamous ramp at the northern end of IL Route 53 toward WB Lake Cook Road. Long Grove firefighters had to force entry into the container when the driver was unsure of the cargo.
