East Dundee FPD history

This from Doug Hoyt

Here’s a couple more photos from the Dundee Lumber fire (the fire today’s TBT photo of the Barrington engine drafting was from), on 3/21/2007. One was what the first engine encountered as they pulled up, the second is later in the fire, before that part of the structure collapsed. I live a few blocks away, and got there just after the first engine. Lots of fire at that incident!

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills FPD history

This from Doug Hoyt:

Following up on the Alsip front-mount “bumper pumpers”, here are a few photos of some more Division 2 rigs from the early / mid 80’s.  Algonquin-Lake In the Hills Tanker 174, a Pierce/International.  Not sure of the year, but I’m reasonably sure the pump is a 750 gpm and the tank is a 3000 gal.  I’ve also included a close-up of that pump. Thanks for the chance to share these!

Rutland Dundee FPD history

This from Doug Hoyt:

Following up on the Alsip front-mount “bumper pumpers”, here are a few photos of some Division 2 rigs from the early / mid 80’s.  One is Rutland-Dundee Engine 52, a 1961(?) International, one is Rutland-Dundee Engine 57, a 750 gpm Ford/Darley with a 2000 gal. tank. Sorry that the photos aren’t the best quality; I wasn’t the greatest photographer back then, and some of the pictures got cut off in the printing.  (Still looking for the negatives.) Thanks for the chance to share these!

Where are they now … The Joseph Medill

This from Doug Hoyt:

I was in Escanaba, MI over the weekend and saw what remains of the Chicago fireboat Joseph Medill.  Thought it might be interesting for the web site.  Thanks.
