New truck for Merrionette Park (more)

This from Dieterich Herndobler:

Not the greatest picture, a grab shot from the car, but here is the new Truck 2664 from Merrionette Park. They were out on the street collecting donations. Wish I could have gotten a better shot.

Bolingbrook house fire – 12/6/14

This from Dieterich Herndobler:

I followed Station 4 into a fire in Station 5’s area last night (12/6/14) in the 1500 block of Schumaker Drive. If it wasn’t for a series of unfortunate events, I would have been a few minutes earlier when there was still heavy fire showing. Engine 5 arrived and reported a 2-story home with heavy fire from the garage and they would be going into quick attack. For being as cold as it was, I was surprised by the amount of people on the block.

As I parked, flames were seen above the house from around the corner. As I was walking up, Quint 4 was putting the stick up. There was an exposure issue to the north, the siding melted off and the wall charred, looked like it was a good stop and real close to being two houses going. Looked like 3 lines were off, and the hydrant was right in front.

Companies were Engine 5, Engine 2, Quint 4, Truck 1, Engine 3 (arrived late), Medics 2, 3, 4, Battalion 1 all from Bolingbrook, plus Lisle Battalion 51, a Plainfield medic and Naperville Engine 2.
Truck 1 is the new Dash CF 105′ rearmount that has been in service since the summer.

New truck for Oak Brook

This from Dieterich Herndobler

After seeing the post that Oak Brook was selling their E-One tower, I became curious if they were going to be running without a truck now or not and stumbled upon their new aerial on the Pierce Facebook page on the blue floor. From the photo it appears to be a 105 foot PUC.

And this from Lucas Hanson:

Just thought I’d pass along a picture of our new Truck 1 just about complete (anticipating in service in the next month or so), and also our new Engine 2 (which will be a clone of our new Engine 5) which is approximately 30 days out from completion.  These are not my pictures, but a member of ours Jeffrey Matthias.

Enjoy!

Geneva Fire Fox River Rescue/Recovery, 4-19-14

This from Dieterich Herndobler:

I was in the area when the call went out for 2 people in the Fox River at State Street (Route 38) in downtown Geneva. So I decided to head down there. As I arrived and was walking up, Geneva Medic 252 was leaving the scene for the hospital with the first patient, which was approximately 20 minutes after the call. The second victim was not recovered until approximately 1820 hours. It was interesting to watch the tactics for a water rescue as I have never seen one. I didn’t have my camera with me, just my phone. Here are a few pictures, including Geneva’s newer engine 207.

Chicago Still Alarm 12-5-2013

This from D. Herndobler

On Thursday, December 5th, 2013 at approximately 1645 hours, companies from the 21st Battalion had a Still Alarm at 90th and Bell. Companies on the scene were Engines 121 and 129, Trucks 40 and 50 (spare rig) with Battalion 21. Battalion 20 and Truck 59 were RIT. The squad and van were held up at some point. I arrived behind Truck 50.

Not much to see. Anyone know the story why 129 got the leadout instead of 121?

Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 2-17-13

This from Dieterich Herndobler:

Sorry for the delay in getting the pics to you, but I was able to catch the knockdown of the Still & Box at 9160 S Green at about 0900 hrs. I chased the header coming home from shift. The bulk of the fire was in the rear of a large truss roof structure. I arrived as first water was put on the fire. The best view of the flames was from the west side on Vincennes, unfortunately I was without my DSLR and there was a chain link fence and a large setback from Vincennes to the building and it was backlit. Initial in companies reported water trouble. Once they got water on the fire, it was knocked quick.

New ambulance for Lombard

This from D. Herndobler:

A co-worker of mine sent me a picture of the new medic unit from Lombard, Medic 64 at Station 1 in the process of having the decals applied. Word has it that it will be in service in 3-4 weeks. Equipment has to be ordered and it will have to be inspected by IDPH still. It is a 2012 Ford F450. The picture was provided Brad Delatorre from Lombard FD.
