Saving the most impressive of the CFD turret wagons for the last, this article includes images from Jack Connors that show all sides and closeups of 6-7-3, otherwise known as Big John when it was new.

Another series of images from Jack Connors showing the CFD Turret Wagons that the shops built on the Chevy Scottsdale (C20) chassis. At one point there was one of these assigned to each of the six districts.

Organized 5-12-70 @ 55 W Illinois St "Big John"

6-7-3 (G-156) - 1952 IHC M65 5-ton 6x6 chassis that the CFD Shops fabricated in 1970 when they installed the body & twin Stang HP deluge monitors capable of flowing 15,000-GPM. It was named after John F Plant who designed 'Big John'.

This picture of 674 was at a 5-11 on Grand and Austin. This unit was destroyed one night later at a 5-11 and 5 specials at 37th and Iron Street when a wall fell on it. This was never replaced as far as I know. Gordon J. Nord, Jr. photo
