2/14/17 Chicago (IL) Fire Department O’Hare International Airport Rescue Station 3. Squad Co. 7 transitions into new rigs. Special Ops Battalion Chief (5-1-5) was also at the house. Pictures of the new and old squad Co. 7 and 7A, Comm Van 273, and MVU 9-2-4. Enjoy!

I had a great opportunity to attend a media event held by the Chicago FD Tuesday. All of the not yet in service 2-piece squad companies (1,2,5,7) were brought to Northerly Island (Many will remember this as Meigs Field) for an unveiling and photo shoot. A total of 8 units altogether were positioned for a once in a generation group photo with views of the skyline in the background. After the group shot we had the chance to shoot each individual rig as well. The lone lime green/yellow units are assigned to Squad 7 at O’Hare Field. I made several panorama images which are comprised of 6 or 7 large resolution shots. When combined they yield a large highly detailed image. The small versions I am sending do not truly showcase these images … to see a good full size view check out my website:

I took in a pin in accident Saturday morning (5/7/16) on the EB JFK@Sayre. Tragically the outcome of this was one fatality. I was able to get some good images of much of the extrication and the overall scene with apparatus placement. I have never really seen the battery operated spreaders and tools in operation before. It seems like they used two sets of the spreaders and a sawzall. Despite this being a tragic incident I feel that the training potential of some of these images is worth sharing.

This unit recived the following upgrades, all in house at Fire Service Inc. New: LED Warning Lights, Complete new Paint and lettering, New ROM roll up doors, New DOT LED lights, Rebuilt engine, suspension, brakes, air system, electrical system (including all new electrical boards) upholstery, cab door panels, A/C systems, Generators and the entire body structure and under carriage support system. Thank you to the City of Chicago !
