This from Larry Shapiro for #TBT:
Here are several shots from a 3-11 Alarm fire and EMS Plan 1 at 4344 N Winchester that occurred on 12/6/01. Featured are older apparatus, many of which were new at the time and are now gone or in reserve status. One shot features all three LTI tower ladders in near mint condition. Squad 2 and Tower 5 were less than a year old at the time.

This from Chi-Town Fire Photos:
Thursday, we were driving down North Ave when the MFAO gave the 18th Battalion a still @ 635 N Springfield. 3-sty, large, vacant apartment building under rehab with fire on the 3rd floor and thru the roof. Three lines were lead out and the companies made a quick aggressive attack.

More from Dan McInerney:
On March 14, 1997, myself and a group of firebuffs from out of town visited Engine 91, Squad 2, and Battalion 7. Cortez Holland was the squad company officer that day, and couldn’t have been nicer. Shortly after our visit, he got promoted to BC. They pulled the rig around the to the parking lot and gave us rides in the Snorkel. We then took in a still on Fullerton with them and the 7th, which turned out to be nothing. Afterwards, we drove by E124’s house just as they were starting a drill with T38. We also showed them the T58 memorial park.

This from Steve Redick:
Fire in an auto repair shop, looked kinda doubtful for a few minutes but was under control in short order. This location is directly across the street from the scene of a fire fatal to 2 members in 1972. More images can be seen here:Steve

An interesting historical note about the 3-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 6-1-17, there was a 2-11 Alarm fire in the same building on April 24, 1983. We have not found any of our contributors that has photos of that fire.
This from Steve Redick:
Thursday morning (at the peak of morning rush hour) 2945 Milwaukee Ave. Fire was in a 2-story furniture store, with the top floor completely closed to the outside by brick veneer. Heavy fire throughout, burned through and collapsed what I believe was a bowstring truss roof. Photo conditions were tough as there were areas of bright sun and deep shade. Finally got to oberve squad 2’s new “snorkel” fully extended and in operation as well as some tower ladder operations and the spare Snorkel. Also interesting to see Engine 69 hooked up to a hydrant in front of Engine 91’s former quarters at 3000 N Elbridge very close to the rear of the fire building. Here is a sample of the hundreds of images, all can be seen plus the video here:Steve

This from Josh Boyajian:
Engine 96 had a fire last night (3/7/17) @ 5858 w Augusta. They dropped 2 lines and Truck 29 had their main to the roof. Looked to be in an occupied and very heavily secured Corner Store.

This from Larry Shapiro:
Here’s some updated information on the new squads for Chicago.
After receiving the finished units from Rosenbauer America, it was determined that the ‘A’ units with the aerials needed some minor alterations to maximize the maneuverability of boom. As designed, these units had two storage compartments accessible from the top on either side of the body. The rear compartments on each side constrained some of the boom movement. Subsequently, the units have been at Chicago Fleet Services undergoing modifications. The work has been completed on Squad 2A and Squad 7A. Both companies are scheduled to take possession of their new apparatus Tuesday, February 14th. The work is still in process for Squad 1A and Squad 5A.
The personnel at Chicago Fleet Services did a terrific job removing the existing material and fabricating a diamond plate cutout for the boom to swing.

This from Drew Gresik:
The city had a fire in a vacant house at 4620 W Superior around 2200 hours on 11/26/16. Three lines were led out and the roof was opened by T26. The 20×20 frame garage burned completely to the ground and companies had heavy fire inside the home on arrival.Drew Gresik
