2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 10-14-19 (more)

More from Steve Redick on the 2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 10-14-19

I was late getting to this job and even so as I arrived they declared an emergency evacuation and sounded the horns as an internal collapse had just occurred. Got some decent shots but was shooting into the sun quite a bit and the low hanging smoke made photos difficult. This was an unusual building with some difficult access issues.

Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 3/12/19

This from Steve Redick:

Took this in around 2230 Tuesday night at 2258 S. Blue Island Avenue. It sounded promising. A metal clad warehouse butted up against another building. Interesting that the size-up was no exposure problem yet it seemed obvious that there was a high potential, in fact they reported  some fire in the adjoining building on fireground. TL 5 with the new rig as well as 28 with a new pumper and I guess what must be a spare command van.

3-11 Alarm fire and Haz Mat Level 1 in Chicago, 2-21-19 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

Took this in about 0515 Thursday. Very tough to get any decent images, the L tracks and heavy smoke covered the front. The one view of the rear and upwind was decent but badly arcing wires kept me from getting too close. It was a plating company so haz mat protocols were in place with some local evacuations. Nice to see the new TL5 working. TL10 had an old HME spare and operated very sparingly.

2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-30-19

This from Eric Haak:

Here are a few quick images from the 2-11 at 25th and Sacramento this afternoon in Chicago (1/30). Companies made an aggressive interior attack and went defensive as I was walking up. The first image was taken only a couple minutes after the companies evacuated the building and it appeared conditions deteriorated rapidly.

Working fire in Chicago, 4-18-18

This from Chi-Town Fire Photos:

Chicago firefighters were dispatched to a fire in a building @ 18th and Kedzie (1817 S Kedzie). The 14th Battalion landed with a 3-sty vacant, totally involved. Engine 107 deck gunned the rear on their arrival while Engine 109 lead out on side A. Shortly thereafter the 14th boxed it and was taking a defensive posture. In total, multiple hand lines, Tower 5, Squad 1, and a couple point advantages were used to knock down the fire.

The first 3-11 Alarm fire of the  year occurred Monday night (1/8/18) as Chicago firefighters battled fire in a 150×800 mattress warehouse at 4041 S. Emerald. Elevated master streams from three tower ladders and Squad 1A surrounded the building.

Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 6-16-17 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

I left the “3 bagger” to take in this job.  Engine 49 from a change asked for a box right away after they arrived. The building was undergoing some renovation as indicated by the scaffolding so a defensive stance was taken initially. Squad 1 wiggled the new rig into a tight spot. Not much to really see but a changing smoke condition based on the prevailing winds. I can’t think of the last time I left one job to take in another (except for Detroit).

All the photos and video from the two fires can be seen here:
