2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago on Clark Street, 12-22-18 (more)

The first of two 2-11 Alarm fires in Chicago on 12/22/18 was at 7051 N. Clark Street (more)

This from

I took in the 2-11 on Clark Street Saturday and arrived about 40 minutes into the fire. Totally defensive at that time. Numerous hand lines and master streams working. I took some shots of the new Engines 59 and 71 pumping as well as Engines 102 and 70. New TL 21 was set up and ready to go but I don’t think they ever flowed any water.

Chicago Fire Department news

Excerpts from ABC7Chicago.com:

Six Chicago firefighters were hospitalized Monday morning after they woke up feeling sick.

Ambulances responded to Engine 26’s house at 10 North Leavitt Street around 3 a.m. and transported five firefighters to area hospitals. Two others were checked out but not hospitalized. One firefighter at another firehouse was also hospitalized.

Three firefighters were released Monday morning. They woke up complaining of upper respiratory irritation, Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner Timothy Sampey said.

Earlier in the evening, the firefighters fought a fire in the 1400-block of West Huron Street. It was a very smoky fire inside a large upscale home. Fire officials said the fire started from an overheated furnace and an irritant may have gotten into the air.
