This from Dave Weaver, radioman911.com:

3/13/18 AURORA – Two Critical from Head-On SUV vs. Van Crash w/ Double Entrapment Bilter Rd. between Eola Rd. and DuPage Pkwy.

The Aurora Police Traffic Division investigated a two-vehicle, head-on crash that occurred around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 that critically injured two Aurora men. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 21-year-old man was driving a 2014 Ford Explorer westbound on Bilter Rd. when it crossed the center line and hit an eastbound 2006 GMC Savana about two-tenths of a mile east of Wilton Ln. The Savana was being driven by a 48-year-old man. The men were the only occupants of their respective vehicles and both had to be extricated by Aurora firefighters. Both were transported by ground ambulance to a suburban hospital for critical, but non-life threatening injuries. No citations had been issued in the day following the crash pending further investigation. It was not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor. Bilter Rd. between DuPage Pkwy. and the I-88 Eola Rd. Tollway ramp were closed for several hours while the crash was reconstructed. Volunteers from Aurora Emergency Management assisted with traffic control. – Video by Dave Weaver

Crash with extrication in North Aurora, 10-16-17

This from Dave Weaver:

10/16/17 NORTH AURORA, IL – North Aurora FD Box Alarm heavy extrication crash, two vehicles under a semi trailer w/ entrapment and double medevac Orchard Rd. and I-88 – Video by Dave Weaver

Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:

Two men died and three others were taken to hospitals after two cars collided with a semitractor trailer Monday at the Orchard Road Interstate 88 overpass in Kane County.

Investigators are looking into whether the collisions are related to two Aurora shootings reported between 11 a.m. and the time of the crash

Working together, detectives from the county sheriff’s department and Aurora Police Department haven’t ruled out that the shootings and crash are the result of gang violence. The colors of the cars that crashed matched the colors of the cars involved in the Aurora shooting

A Jaguar and a GMC Envoy were northbound on Orchard Road, apparently traveling at high speeds, when both cars struck the semi-trailer that was turning south onto Orchard Road after getting off eastbound I-88.

The GMC driver, identified as Christopher Shaw, 23, of North Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC’s two passengers, one who had been in the front and the other in the back seat, were flown to a hospital. The front seat passenger, Devonte Bouchee, 24, of Aurora, died later in the afternoon, and the back seat passenger, a 23-year-old Aurora man, had injuries that were potentially life-threatening.

The Jaguar driver, a 38-year-old Aurora man; and the truck driver, a 27-year-old from Burbank, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office and Aurora police are investigating two separate reports involving vehicles chasing each other and exchanging shots in the Aurora area before the crash Monday.

Nothing was apparently hit in the first shooting, which was reported at 11:04 a.m., and the second shooting, at 11:45 a.m. along Nantucket Road and Durham Drive near West Indian Trail Road in Aurora, resulted in gunfire damage to two homes.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shootings to call Kane County investigators at 630-444-1103 or Aurora’s at 630-256-5500, or Aurora area crime stoppers at 630-892-1000.

Fatal MVA in Sugar Grove Township, 9-9-17

This from Dave Weaver:

9/9/17 SUGAR GROVE TWP – Fatal Vehicle Crash Harter Rd. and Scott Rd.
A car vs. minivan collision occurred at the intersection of Harter Rd. and Scott Rd. around 3:25 pm. According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the initial investigation indicates a 2003 Acura was traveling west on Scott Rd. and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Harter Rd. where it collided with a 2000 Chevy Venture minivan traveling north on Harter Rd. Traffic on Harter Rd. does not have a stop sign. The 36-year-old Barlett man driving the Acura was killed. The 29-year-old female passenger was transported to Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora with apparent non-life threatening injuries. The back seat passenger, a 3-year-old female in a car seat, was taken to Mercy Center Hospital and then airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital. The driver and passenger of the minivan, a 55-year-old man and 60-year-old female both from Aurora, were transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries. Victims were transported by ambulances from Elburn, Bristol-Kendall FPD, Big Rock, and Montgomery. Sugar Grove’s ambulance was already on a call. According to info obtained at the scene, Elburn fire and EMS crews were at a nearby event which allowed them to respond very quickly as mutual aid. A witness told RM911 that a neighbor, an off-duty paramedic, retrieved the car seat and child from the car and administered first aid until the Elburn fire crews arrived. Mark Vogtmann expressed concern over the large number of crashes he’s witnessed since moving nearby and feels a 4-way stop is needed.
