Tower 50’s older E-One was already sold off. Truck 52 is labeled as Truck 50 to plan ahead for when it gets replaced. It’s running calls with Truck 50 on the doors.

Truck 53 moved to engine 51’s quarters a few years ago to put it in a better spot to handle where a majority of the calls were. Engine 51 is busier than engine 53, it seems to make sense to have two fire companies out of 51 as opposed to 53.
There is no 5th ambulance in service in Schaumburg at this time regardless of daily manning.
Truck 52 (the stick) has been designated Truck 50 as it will go to reserve status when the new Truck 52 (the tower) is delivered and goes in service. The 2001 E-One tower will be sold at that time. There are two truck companies in service every day, truck 51 and truck 52. They are not jump companies, there has never been a 3rd truck company in service.
I can’t speak to the switch from a stick to a tower, that was probably a member of the administration who pushed for that.

Tower 53 moved to 51 back in 2020. The current Truck 52 (Straight stick) was renamed to Truck 50 acting as a reserve truck once the new tower ladder arrives. Ambulance 55 goes up if they have extra manpower.

There was more demand for a TL in 51. With more AFA’s in that area and a lot of other calls.

Thanks for the info. I thought they had 3 aerials in service… tower 51, truck 52, and tower 53? Did they take one out of service or am I mistaken?

I’m curious to wonder why they went with another tower ladder vs a straight stick that they have had for years… i believe they now have tower 51 and tower 52 vs ladder 52

Steve, Schaumburg does 3 on their engines, 2 on the trucks, 2 on the ambulances and I believe 4 on the squad. Might be 3. Schaumburg is also pushing to staff a 5th Ambulance out of either 52 or 55 but the government won’t do it

Anyone know what their daily staffing is? Are they still running 2 man towers/trucks?
