I know Naperville has had a lot of issues with Squad 9 since it was delivered. They are going all Pierce from now on, at least for the 2 engines, squad, and tower they have on order for delivery within the next 3 years. Unless things have changed, Engine 3 (E-One) and Engine 4 (Pierce) are maintained solely by their respective dealers and have been since being delivered in 2018. The rest of the rigs are maintained mainly by the city.
Warrenville sold the old tower and the 2004 E-One Cyclone. The Pierce and the 2009 E-One rotate between being frontline (E11) and second out (E12) every so often.

Hairy – Engine 50 is easily totaled. It needs a whole new cab.
In terms of the ‘high ranking guys’ at Naperville, if I had to bet, they don’t service or maintain any of the trucks. On occasion, I come across another EVT at a seminar that drools over Pierce but for the most part, most of the EVT’s I know feel E-One is better.
I would say the benefit that Pierce has is they know how to persuade people to go with their product. I have never seen so many departments have bad luck with Pierce but continue to buy them.
I’ve seen bad E-Ones too but those departments typically just buy a different brand.
In all of my career as an EVT, I would say the E-One is hands down a longer lifespan over Pierce. Plus Pierce has a lot of proprietary parts that are extremely expensive.
I’ll take an E-One any day over a Pierce.

Sharp looking tower! What will happen to Engine 11? It is not that old? Will it go into reserve? Which engine will Warrenville get rid of? Will Engine 11 become engine 12? Which engine will they get rid of?

Harry, engine 50 has pretty bad structural damage to the frame and cab. That’s why it’s totaled

are u on facebook if so i can share u a picture of chicago fd engine 50 totaled from what is can see very little damage and when i was in boston in 2021 i believe there was a newer eone ladder totaled that a ff showed me with very little damage so i am not sure they are built as good as we think i live in naperville and the fire dept has told me several high ranking guys that they feel the pierces are far better
but it will be interesting if thats true because naperville has 3 reserve engines and 1 training engine 2 reserve ladders and a reserve medic unit and the engines are a 2000 eone
2008 spartan x2
2005 eone training engine only
2009 and 2010 spartan trucks in reserve
2014 medic unit reserve
but frontline are pretty new pierces and eones and a few spartans stilll active

Congratulations Warrenville! Truly a beautiful truck and the quality with E-One trucks are nothing but at the highest level!
