DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Adds New Hazardous Device Response Vehicle Squad to FleetToday Undersheriff Moore along with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Device Unit is proud to announce the arrival of our brand-new Hazardous Device Response Vehicle. This customized vehicle was picked up today and will be immediately be put into service to support critical incident response throughout the county.Outfitted with advanced tools and technology, this vehicle enhances our ability to respond to suspicious packages, explosive devices, and other hazardous threats, keeping our residents and emergency personnel safer in high-risk situations. This addition represents our ongoing commitment to public safety and preparedness across DuPage County. We are grateful for the continued support from the County Board that allows us to equip our teams with the resources they need to protect and serve.


DuPage County Sheriff (IL) Bomb Disposal/EOD Unit
This custom bomb truck features a Freightliner M2 106 conventional cab chassis, Cummins 6.7L diesel engine and an Allison 2500EVS automatic transmission. The all aluminum body features curbside entry, Extreme Duty body storage compartments, and a 2,000lb. auto open/close rear liftgate to safely load gear and the customer’s bomb robot. We added an emergency lighting and siren package to the exterior as well as bright LED scene lighting. A custom fabricated center console has been added to house a communications radio and the siren controller. A 3-camera color backup system has also been added. Our exclusive Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system has been added to simplify the setup of the vehicle.
Inside, there are two workstations, each with a spider base task chair. 32? display monitors have been added along with commercial grade aluminum gear storage cabinetry. A scanner has been installed on a slide out tray. Adjustable shelving is added for more gear storage. There is a galley with microwave, Keurig coffee maker and a small refrigerator for convenience. The rear area has storage for the robot, a flip down work surface and flip down seating for staff.
Additional features include: VersaTie tracking, blackout window curtains, magnetic surface dry erase white boards, (2) ducted low profile rooftop A/C units, 2 fans to circulate air in the bomb suit storage area, a direct discharge furnace and a 12kW liquid cooled generator for electric power generation.
