BMurphy is right and I agree with. Why don’t you be happy and grateful for the people in Guatemala who are getting what they need instead of complaining about an act of generosity? Helping the other departments out in whatever way you can is perhaps better.

What with all the concern shown here about domestic fire departments in need, instead of criticizing another organization’s act of kindness and welfare perhaps working to assist those same fire departments in need might be time better spent.

Or at least sell it at a lower price to a department. It rubs me the wrong way when some community donates a rig to some country. Indeed, America first and foremost.

My thoughts exactly. America first. That well maintained piece of equipment could do a lot of good right here in the USA.

Hurricane ravaged towns in need, rural depts. all over the country, and the feel good moment is to ship it off to the third world? Come on. That would be a front line piece and 2/3 of American depts. today.

It’s good to know that there are no fire departments in need of equipment in rural West Virginia, Montana, Southern Illinois, Puerto Rico, etc. and those fire departments in hurricane-ravaged areas like North Carolina don’t need assistance (I’m sure FEMA got them taken care of). I’m tired of politicians taking care of other country’s citizen’s before those of our own country. Selling it to a foreign country is one thing (I.e. return of tax payer money to the community). Giving it away to a foreign country when there are communities in our own country/territories with desperate needs for fire protection is shameful. I’m sure my comments will trigger others to now “school me” in global politics.

You’d think they could have donated it to a south suburban department and it would have a way better impact.
