From Crabbymilton:
The 2024 Milwaukee Muster/Expo was a great turn out. Despite the small space, many MFD apparatus stopped by in addition to the vintage apparatus on static display. The MILWAUKEE FIRE BELL club did a great job hosting the event just as they did last year. They are great and decent people that deserve thanks for this.

Hello John.
You make some great points with those darker colors. MFD has a few red Aerials so that could indeed hinder. Metallic or if you need to paint it, white seems best. As far as the blackout look goes, well I guess part of that comes from the idea 50 some years ago when there was a trend to yellow or lime green. Perhaps out of boredom they say…”Lets do something a little bit different this time…”

Can anyone out there explain the recent trend to darker and flater shines in regards to fire apparatus. When I was still working Tosa or Wauwatosa went to a black over red paint scheme. I thought it was unusual and from a firefighting perspective means wouldn’t a black painted Aerial Main be harder to spot and setup in the night and with a smoky atmosphere? I was just looking at the pictures from the muster. Thanks again.

My pleasure. It should be noted that the PIRSCH cab forward that you see second from left was the very last one of that design. It was built in 1981 and very few were built from the mid 1970’s until that time of that type.

Crabby, thanks for sharing that video. Love all the old rigs particularly the Pirsch ones!
